Our Trip to the Food Bloggers of Canada Conference, a Quick Recap in Photos

As we were driving north from Windsor to Orangeville we started to see frost on the tips of the trees. By the time we arrived at the resort the landscape was covered in ice and small spatterings of snow, it was like driving back in time into November.

I should probably note right now, that what is special about the following photos is that I took them with my new Nokia Lumia 620. I was impressed with how they turned out, particularly when you consider that the shots above were taken on the 401 as we zipped along at 100kms an hour.

After safely arriving and checking into the Hockley Valley Resort, the first scheduled event was a cocktail reception which doubled as a chance to meet with some brands. Complete with food, glorious food, and tons of it. It was the FOOD Bloggers conference, after all.

Followed by a three course sit down dinner, complete with wine pairings. I was amused that the starter was poutine. What a perfectly Canadian way to begin a food bloggers conference.

To be honest I had mixed feelings on the fact that they choose to bring in an American to be the keynote speaker. However, David Leite of was certainly engaging to listen to.

This was followed by Kitchen Aid night at the movies, where they treated us all to lovely gingerbread cookies and custom made milkshakes. Yum. And this was all just on the opening night!

The following day and a half were full of panels and speakers...

a fantastic hands on food photography lesson,

a second incredible three course dinner,

plenty of note taking, and yes, more cookies.

Overall it was an incredible experience, one I was happy I had the chance to share with my husband,

and with a few of my compatriots from the Canadian Bloggers Network (Cheers to @MBAMamaMusings, @SoberJulie and @chancesmommy -- always a pleasure to spend time with you ladies.)

Kudos to @EthanAdeland, @eatlivtravwrite and @mhchipmunk, the folks behind Food Bloggers of Canada, who managed to put together a truly stellar conference. To them I send a heartfelt thanks for both the ticket I won and for the experiences I brought home with me.

Disclosure – I won a complimentary ticket to the Food Bloggers of Canada Conference. It rocked. I am also participating in the Nokia Spring Break blog tour by enCompass Media on behalf of Nokia. I received compensation as a thank you for participating and for sharing my honest opinion.
