Happy 10th Anniversary Crocs! {Review}

Crocs have been around for 10 years, yet I've just finally become a convert croc-vert.

I was actually a bit surprised to discover that Crocs was celebrating their 10th Anniversary, as they still seem like a "new" thing to me. To be honest, I always thought Crocs looked a bit silly. Besides, how comfortable could plastic shoes be? I dislike sandals, and have no desire to expose my hobbit-like feet to the world. I wear shoes. Nice heavy thick shoes.

But then a couple of years back my daughter received her first pair of Crocs and became somewhat obsessed with them. And I've got to admit I fell for them a bit too, as they proved to be extremely durable. Not to mention easy to get on and off little feet. Flash forward to this Summer and both of my kids absolutely adore their Crocs. For them Crocs are the official footware of Summertime and  "Crocs with no socks!" is a chant I hear on a daily basis.

Playing in the sandbox in their crocs.

So when Crocs approached me to review a pair of their shoes I readily said yes, as I  figured the kids could always use an extra pair of their favourite footgear. However, there was a catch. They didn't have any child sized shoes available for review. Would I be interested in an adult pair of Crocs? I hesitated and came very close to saying no thanks, but darn am I ever glad I told them to go ahead and send them on over.

Because these are my new summer pals. Heading into the back yard to hop in the pool; pulling weeds in the garden; chasing the kids in the grass; or off for a walk to the park? These are the shoes I want to be wearing. They are SO LIGHT. They weigh next to nothing. They are incredibly comfy. They are also cool, my feet don't get hot or sweaty while wearing them. It's like walking around in bare feet, but without having to worry about what you're stepping on. And they are more shoe like then sandal like, which I love as I hate exposing my feet to the public eye. They are comfy and practical with or without socks. Just all around my new favourite thing to wear in the summer time.  I'm so glad I happened to try them out, I just lament that it took me ten years to discover how much I love 'em.

Black Crocskin Crocs, 10th Birthday Edition

And now for a few nifty 10th Anniversary facts from Crocs....

Crocs are Canadian!
In 1992, three friends on a sailing adventure created a clog that would change the casual footwear marketplace.  The innovation? The Crocs Clog  just felt really, really comfortable.  Turns out millions of Canadians simply like being comfortable as more than 10 million pairs have sold across the country.  Now Crocs, Inc. is a world leader in innovative casual footwear for men, women and children and celebrating 10 years of comfort, fun, and innovation.

Do you know what Crocs are made of?
All Crocs footwear feature Croslite™ material, a proprietary, revolutionary technology that gives each pair of shoes the soft, comfortable, lightweight, non-marking and odor-resistant qualities that Canadians know and love.  Crocs fans “Get Crocs Inside” every pair of shoes, from the iconic clog to new sneakers, sandals, boots and heels.  Since its inception in 2002, Crocs has sold more than 200 million pairs of shoes in more than 90 countries around the world.

Wondering where to buy a pair?
You can find Crocs in major retailers across Canada including Sears Canada, SoftMoc, The Shoe Company and Sport Chek. The company also operates 13 Crocs stores across Canada which can be found in Toronto, Vancouver, Whistler, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. Or you can buy them online via the Crocs website.

10 years! So how are they celebrating?
To commemorate this momentous occasion, the revolutionary company has launched its new “Crocs Around the World” campaign, which marks the company’s 10th birthday and calls on its global fan base to share in the celebration. The campaign lives online at crocsaroundtheworld.com where Crocs fans can connect virtually to share their favourite Crocs stories, shop for limited edition products and experience the brand’s evolution during the past 10 years.

Wait, did you say limited edition shoes?
