Celebrate Victoria Day with Beanitos & Wholly Guacamole, #CANsnack {Review & Giveaway}

So since I finally found a local source for my Wholly Guacamole addiction, I've been going a little crazy with the guac. I spread it on my sandwiches, I mix it into rice, I dip chicken in it, I mix it into my tuna salad, and yes, I even eat it with chips.

I had read a suggestion to try using guacamole as a "healthier" substitute for mayo, and I've been totally loving using it as a sandwich spread.

Wholly Guacamole makes a fantastic sandwich spread.
Wholly's Spicy Guac is darn tasty on my turkey sandwich.

  Wholly Guacamole Classic Nutritional Information:
  • All natural ingredients
  • Preservative and Additive Free
  • Gluten Free & Non-GMO
  • Kosher Certified
  • now available at Walmart as well as may other fine retailers throughout USA & Canada

Today I went to make tuna salad for my daughter's lunch, and realized that we're out of mayo. I had some Wholly Guacamole in the fridge so I figured why not give it a try.

It was more then just a passable substitute, it was fantastic. And I got to thinking. "Hm. This sort of reminds me of my mother-in-laws awesome tuna dip." So I add a bit more guac, mixed it up, and broke out the chips. But not just any old chips....

The May Two-Four long weekend is coming up and to help celebrate Beanitos and Wholly are teaming up to help bring some fantastic snacking to Canada.  When they offered to send me a bunch of Wholly Guacamole goodies and a case of Beanitos, I obviously couldn't say no.

Beanitos Chips and Wholly Guacamole

But you know I was just in it for the guac, right? So I was pleasantly surprised to find that Beanitos aren't just good, they are absolutely AWESOME. They taste fantastic, and they are actually good for you. They are a healthy snacking choice, so much better for you then corn chips.

  Beanitos Nutrition Information:
  New Beanitos Single-Serves - A New Healthy To-Go Snack
  • New Single-Serve Size 1.25 oz,
  • 175 Calories
  • 6 g Protein & 6 g Fiber
  • Gluten-free & Non-GMO
  • Beanitos have just recently come to Canada –– find them at select Horizon, Sobeys and Longo's

I found Beanitos to be a tasty and filling snack. I love that a "serving" is actually the entire single portion bag, and not just six chips. I tried out all four flavours (Black Bean, Pinto Bean & Flax, Black Bean Chipolte BBQ, and Pinto Bean & Flax with Cheddar Cheese), and while I liked the "plain" chips better then the flavoured ones all four varieties were delicious. The two flavoured varieties (Black Bean Chipolte BBQ, and Pinto Bean & Flax with Cheddar Cheese) are a bit spicy. My kids devoured all four types with alarming speed.

They are a big hit here, both plain and along side Wholly Guacamole.  Personally I love the contrast of Wholly's Spicy Guac with the plain chips, and of the plain milder guac with the spicy flavoured chips.

Beanitos chips go perfectly with Wholly Guacamole dip.
Beanitos and Wholly Guacamole, the perfect match.

Perfect snack food for the upcoming backyard BBQ season, right?  And if you're feeling adventurous you can try adding tuna to your guac to make a crazy delicious dip to serve to your guests. ( Okay, so you guys probably think I'm nuts for mixing tuna into perfectly good guacamole, but it was seriously tasty.)

No plans (its normally rains or snows here in Calgary lol). When we do burgers or hot dogs we always have fries and gravy and salad. When we do steak, my husband likes mashed potatoes and gravy, some sort of mixed vegetable (his favourite is when I do baby corn, brussel sprouts and cauliflower) and sometimes buns or salad as well

What sort of snacks or sides do you like to serve when BBQing?
fresh veggies

Plans? Other than sitting out on the patio and having a barbecue, no.
I have to have my once a month treat of potato chips with some kind of homemade dip with sour cream as its base.

And of course, with the barbecued burgers you gotta add some crisp dill pickles and the freshest shredded lettuce.

nachos with melted cheese is a favorite

If the weather is decent we'll probably spend most of the time at the park. Forecast is calling for rain though so we'll most likely end up at the museum or a movie (or both!)

As for BBQ snacks, my girls like to munch on raw veggies & dip. I'm sure the guacamole would go over really well here!
