{ Local } Spring Mom2Mom Sale
This Saturday is the annual Windsor Spring Mom2Mom sale.
Despite my disappointing sales experience last fall, I still think the Mom2Mom sale ROCKS. It’s the largest indoor garage sale in southwestern Ontario. It’s like over 100 different garage sales, all in one spot, and all with kids items. It is THE place to get kids clothing. 90% of what my daughters wear I have picked up at these sales. It’s also a great place to pick up kids books, movies and even toys. On average I usually spend $40-$60 and literally fill the trunk of our car.
The pre-sale is starts at 9:30. In the past the pre-sale has been only open to sellers and to those who have donated to the bake sale. This year they are doing things a little differently...
- The first 20 people in line at 9:30 will get into the sale 1 hour early.
- At 10:00am the next 10 people in line will set into the sale 30 minutes early.
- The sale opens to the general public at 10:30.
It runs from 10:30am to 2pm. If you want to be there for the start plan to show up between 10 and 10:30 and be prepared to stand in line. On the plus side the first 400 people through the doors get a goodie bag with coupons from local sponsors. Personally I haven’t found the goodie bags in the past to be that fantastic and I hate standing in line, so I usually aim to show up around 10:45-11ish. There is simply SO MUCH stuff to go through that you wouldn’t want to come much later, as you really do need a few hours to properly go through everything.
Bargain hunters will want to plan to stay late, as the last hour of the sale usually features ridiculous deals. Typically people offer half off prices or fill a bag for a dollar. I’ve had people offer me “everything I have left for $5”. I’ve even been given items for free.
Though kids are welcome on the Mom2Mom website they suggest no strollers. I really recommend that you listen to this suggestion. These sales are PACKED and there simply isn’t room for strollers. In the past I have worn the baby in a wrap and this has worked out fine. Though I have to admit I prefer when I can arrange for someone to watch them while I sneak out without any kids.
Want to know a great tip I figured out last year? Go and get your kids feet professionally measured at the shoe store the day prior to the sale. Then you can buy tons of cheap shoes that actually fit!
Want to go?
The Mom2Mom sales happen twice a year; in the spring and in the fall. This years spring sale is taking place at the WFCU Centre (at the community centre entrance), this Saturday, May 28th from 10:30am to 2pm. It costs $1 to get in. Kids are free.
