{ Life } My Year One Memory
With the Baby Gourmet Mother's Day contest going on right now, mom memories have been on my mind. I thought I'd share with you one of my own favourite memories from my first year as a mom
For me one of the most memorable and exciting movements was the first time G-Girl signed back at me. I had been signing to her using ASL signs since she was about 4 weeks old, with no noticeable response. Then one day I was rushing to "top her up" prior to heading out the door to the family Christmas party. I sat down to nurse her, in her Christmas dress-up outfit, and she put her tiny fist in my face and squeezed to sign for milk. She was six months old at the time. I know it's a little thing, but I remember being so ridiculously excited that she was signing back! I went to that party walking on clouds. Of course I immediately told everyone there that my baby was signing! And then she wouldn't replicate it and I felt like a silly goose.
I have really enjoyed reading the submissions for the Baby Gourmet Mother's Day contest. So many lovely, heart-felt mom moments! There is no way I am going to be able to choose just one winner based on merit alone. I have decided to pick my twelve favourite and then let Random.Org sort it out. Good luck folks! The contest closes tomorrow, Thursday May 5th, at Noon. There's still time to get your entry in for a chance to win this cool gift basket full of luxury feeding and baby products, including plenty of delicious Baby Gourmet food.

I remember how excited you were and how exciting it was to see Ggirl's early attempts at signing. She became very proficient at letting you know what she wanted or how she felt long before she could talk. It was truly amazing.
My favourite memory from her first year: when we returned from our trip of 4 months, Ggirl was only nine months old, sitting in her bumbo chair and as soon as she saw us enter the room she broke out in a big beautiful toothless grin and started clapping her little hands. The best reception I could have ever gotten.
